In addition to his duties during Fair week, Lindsay welcomed to Queensferry passengers from all over the world as they disembarked from the cruise liners which anchored in the Forth throughout the year.  Lindsay received fees amounting to £1000 which he has very generously donated to the Ferry Fair.  The committee is most grateful to Lindsay for this kind gesture.

Ferry Fair week 2009 passed successfully, the weather was kind over the four weekday evenings but unfortunately for the Burryman heavy rain showers persisted throughout the Friday.  Despite this, large crowds followed his progress and there was an excellent turn-out of people on the Friday evening for the various events.  Ferry Fair Day began ominously with heavy rain showers early in the morning which miraculously cleared for the final parade, the crowning ceremony and the rest of the day.  Queen Evie, Gracious Lady Irene McGill and all the children were resplendent in the warm sunshine and later reports confirmed that they all thoroughly enjoyed their day.  The afternoon entertainment from pop group "Boyz" was very well received by a huge crowd of onlookers and a superb day came to a fitting end with the massed bands and the lone piper playing "Highland Cathedral" whilst the Lothian and Borders Army Cadets lowered the flag.  The community looks forward to seeing Queen Evie as she carries out her official duties throughout the coming year and to an equally successful Ferry Fair 2010.

2009 Ferry Fair Day

This year we are grateful to have the services of an official photographer, Mike Dooley, who is providing pictures of all the week's events including Ferry Fair Day.
