The Town Crier has for many, many years been an
integral feature of the Ferry Fair and in recent years a number of
weel-kent local characters have performed this important role with
distinction but each in his own inimitable fashion. These have
included in the early years of the current Fair format Willie Lamond,
better known as "Killiecrankie" and Kate Mackay following whom the role
was dormant until it was revived and performed by
Johnny "The Rogue" Robertson for
some years until ill health forced his retirement. Johnny sadly
passed away only recently, a tribute from his family can be seen here.
He was succeeded by William "Wuggie" McPillips who also sadly passed
away but whilst still in office. Read more about Wuggy here.
The role was then taken by Lyndsay Munro who will be doing his duty once
again at this year's Fair. |
