What is ‘The Ferry Fair’ ?

If you are new to the area or only now being able to step back and look around your home town, here’s a short explanation and oversight.

The Ferry Fair dates back to the 12th century with an 8 day annual event. The crowning of a Ferry Fair Queen was introduced in 1930.

The Ferry Fair today normally consists of a week of free events running early August from Sunday to Saturday culminating in the crowning of the new Ferry Fair Queen.

This year is the 90th Crowning so we have added a special party the Saturday before (this Saturday), also a nod to the original 8 day event.

Friday will be our last fundraising event before FF2026, a Quiz Night.

Saturday - we kick off the 90th Ferry Fair 2026 with the party in Burgess Park.

Sunday - will see the Teddy Bears Picnic, Ecumenical Service & Ferry Talented. Window Watchers competition starts.

Monday - we have the junior 5-a-side football competition.

Tuesday - we are in Port Edgar for the Ferry Fair Family Quiz.

Wednesday - The Hub has their Ferry Fair family night.

Thursday - we are in Burgess Park with inflatables, races, games, …

Friday - The Burryman is on tour, we are on the High St with entertainment, shows, fancy dress comp, boundary race, wheelbarrow race, Bellstane Walk (carrying 2 x 80lb Bellstanes)

Saturday - the procession, crowning, pipe bands, samba band, live band on the High St.

Sunday - we draw the raffle and announce the identifier of the unique “Golden Ticket” Ferry Fair programme worth £100 cash.

All £4 goes towards delivering the Ferry Fair, a Scottish registered charity run entirely by local volunteers.
