Queen Margaret's Boat

Queen Margaret was born in Hungary in about 1046 and around 1070 she married King Malcolm III of Scotland. She became known for helping people in need. It’s said that she crossed the Firth of Forth many times, and encouraged pilgrims to use the ferry crossing to travel to the shrine of St Andrew in Fife. Queensferry (The Queen’s Ferry) became so named in her honour.

As our town has this special connection to Queen Margaret, every year on Ferry Fair day The Tableau (Queen Margaret’s Boat) is included in The Crowning Ceremony. Children ofQueensferry dress up as Queen Margaret, her sisters Princess Agatha and Princess Christina and her son Prince Edgar.
